A few days ago, I wrote that Google had yet to file a trademark application for "CHROME" the name of its new web browser. Today I noticed that the United States Patent and Trademark Office updated its records (usually takes a few days from the time of online filing) to reflect that Google did file a new federal trademark application for "CHROMIUM", see below, and separately, for the design used as part of its logo for the CHROME browser, see below. Why "CHROMIUM" and not "CHROME"?
