If you own a United States registered trademark, and if you import goods bearing that trademark, then you must take immediate steps to record the trademark with United States Customs. The costs associated with this process are very low. Once your trademark is recorded with Customs, a Customs Officer is vested with inspecting or otherwise seizing non-authorized goods which bear your trademark, a trademark which is confusingly similar, a counterfeit, or a gray market or diverted goods. While this does not guarantee that all non-authorized trademark goods will be kept out of the country, it does help in slowing down the onslaught.
It is a simple and cost-effective process for protecting your investment.
